The hike we did was from Taylers Mistake around Godley Heads and back. If you are in Christchurch. Do it! It took 4-5 hours. You have to stop every few meters to check the awesome view ?.
Description of walk: „Most people drive to the Godley Head car park and complete the loop track from there. Alternatively, it can be accessed and completed from Taylors Mistake beach.
From the Godley Head car park take the Pilgrims Way track signposted to Taylors Mistake. The walkway winds around the hill above Mechanics Bay, past the historic military buildings including the Battery Observation posts at the entrance to Lyttelton Harbour. From here it carries on the Boulder Bay / Taylors Mistake Walkway around the nose of the headland and past the Godley Battery Compound (currently closed due to earthquake damage) then down the hill to Boulder Bay where it is easy to spot where cave dwellings use to be and then on to Taylors Mistake beach. You can return to the Godley Head car park the same way or walk up the shared use, Anaconda track to Breeze Col. From there the track stays above Breeze Bay, offering views of Lyttelton Harbour until it drops down to the Godley Head car park. This walk offers spectacular views of the city, New Brighton Beach the Heathcote and Avon Estuaries, New Brighton Beach and on a clear day the Southern Alps. Make sure you keep your eyes out to sea and on the rocks below you may spot a seal, dolphin or even a whale.“
